TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR COMPANY.
We are a celebrity wedding photography team based in Toronto. It began with a husband and wife team – Max and Ricci. Our journey of love started soon after we met at age 12. Eighteen years later, through all of life’s ups and downs, we feel truly blessed to be able to keep falling in love with one another day after day. Our passion towards photography is a key component of our fairytale life. Through our lenses, we continuously find beauty, inspiration, and appreciation in each other and in life. How extremely lucky we are, being able to turn our passion of photography into our careers and live the life of our dreams! When we first started our relationship, we were soon separated by distance. We nurtured our seed of love across the ocean by writing each other letters. Countless love letters have left us invaluable evidence of our feelings; each time we revisited them, they feathered our hearts and reminded us how much we’ve always treasured our relationship. We want our photos to do the same for you as our love notes did for us! We want LaMemoir to be the feather pen that writes your unique love story in every picture we take. Our goal is to live a truly unique experience with you and to capture the heartwarming moments on your special day, bringing you visual memoirs of those enchanting feelings you will never forget. With a background in film and fashion, we always strive to be creative in telling your stories through our lenses. If you are looking for something fun, daring, and ethereal, we are also available to shoot UNDERWATER!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING IN THE WEDDING INDUSTRY?
I have officially been working in the wedding industry for two years, however, have had my feet in it (on and off) for over ten years. I have always been drawn to it, helping my friends and family with the design and coordination of their own weddings and I even did mobile wedding hair styling for a time. I realized that I admired all aspects of wedding design and now absolutely love being part of the very beginning of the process.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
We love traveling and have been to 62 countries. This job gives us more opportunities to go to places and destinations we would not have otherwise thought of. We get to meet interesting people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds.
FROM WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION AND IDEAS?
We draw a lot of our inspiration from fashion, fairytale, paintings, movies, TV, music, or oftentimes, just simply the scene itself; the light, reflections, taste of the breeze, the softness of sand, etc…
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR WORK PROCESS? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BRIDE CONTACTS YOU?
We often direct them to our “about” page so they get a better idea of who we are. We will also get more details about the couple like their venue, style, etc… We want couples to book us because of our work and the value that we bring them, rather than it being a mere business trade. “Chemistry” is one of the most important factors we look at when we book a client because we are able to customize to any photography style preference, whether it is more photojournalism, editorial glamour, or natural and airy. Thus, for local clients, we will always try to meet in person at our studio. For international clients, we can do video conferences. Once booked, we make sure we have periodic follow ups. We take every wedding like a project, helping clients to realize their vision from a photography perspective.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE CLIENT EXPERIENCE TO DATE?
We have had countless memorable experiences in the past three years or so, from shooting a destination wedding on a mountaintop in Norway to shooting underwater in St. Thomas. One of the most memorable experiences was shooting Jonelle Filigno’s destination wedding in Cabo last year. It was an incredible experience working with an Olympic medalist (a former soccer player for our Canadian national team). Despite the stunning scenery in Cabo, we were collaborating so closely on each and every detail, from choosing outfits to timing each session to get the best result. Everyone was so passionate and energetic. At the same time, everyone showed mutual respect and understanding, which really made their wedding pictures shine.
WHO DO YOU LOOK TO AS A MENTOR OR INFLUENCER IN THE INDUSTRY?
Joe Bussink is one of the most inspiring wedding photographers.
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT GUILTY PLEASURE?
Watching travel clips.
WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER COUPLES ON THEIR DAY?
Do not let anything get in your way. Be happy on your wedding day.
WHAT CAREER WISDOM WOULD YOU OFFER THOSE JUST STARTING IN THE INDUSTRY?
Follow your heart and take action.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON AND WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?
We are currently working on introducing luxury stylized portrait sessions to our Canadian market; taking many elements from fashion editorial photography to a consumer level, i.e. creating themes utilizing flowers, wardrobe, and accessories for portrait sessions that anyone can take as many times as they want, whether it is for their regular seasonal look, an anniversary, or a maternity session.
